2.5 out of 5 Screams. It's like the second Phantasm but with a bigger
budget and a bit of wonky cgi. Some new additions to the world building
and subtle improvements to the effects. The problem with a character
telling you not to trust what you see, is that you just except the dream
for reality. There's no juxtaposition. Without any stark contrasts, I
feel at this point, I've seen it all before. -drew

Now Playing (Review edition): Phantasm 2
4 Screams out of 5. I think I might prefer this to the original. Everything is ramped up - the gore, effects, house explosions, Sam Raimi-esque shots, Angus Scrimm. Unfortunately, the dreamlike quality of it's depressor is lessened due to expanding the world.
Also - pretty sure this is what inspired the chainsaw fight scene in Mandy.

Now Playing (review edition): Slenderman (2018)
2.5 Screams out of 5. Just about what you imagined a movie based on a 10 year old internet meme would be. Actors weren't annoying. Effects were on par for a made for tv movie. Not terrible but a good argument for why movies/ tv shouldn't follow the source material too closely.
